Amir Khan and Anthony Joshua unite at Ghana boxing event

Amir Khan and Anthony Joshua seem to be friends again after a past feud, during which fake texts threatened to end their friendship for good.

Khan and Joshua had a public spat over texts involving his wife, which led to a stunning social media rant in 2017.

The Bolton native took to his Twitter account to make a sensational statement, claiming Joshua’s involvement.

At the time, Khan had been out of the ring since losing to Canelo Alvarez in 2016 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Whether that affected his state of mind at the time is anyone’s guess, but Joshua denied the claims.

“Bantz aside, I hope you guys can resolve your situation, or this is a hack as we have never even met! Plus, I like my women BBW (sic),” replied Joshua, posting a video of Shaggy’s hit ‘It Wasn’t Me.’

After some debate, Khan assured his fans the accusations did not come from a hacker.

“Everything you saw on social media today is real,” revealed Khan. “Nothing’s been hacked.  But yeah, what’s done is done. Everything I posted on social media today was true,” he added.

The estrangement between Khan and Joshua, two members of the Team GB national set-up and both Olympic medalists, lasted five years.

In an interview with The Overlap, Khan apologized after realizing over time that messages were fake.

“I had the problem with Anthony Joshua, which I feel awful for, because at the end of the day. But I put him in the firing line for no reason,” Khan told Gary Neville on The Overlap.

“I mean, he was a friend of mine. Since then, we’ve never spoken. So I lost a good friend through that as well.”

It’s been three years, but public appearances seeing Khan and Joshua in the same room gave hope to the situation.

And now, promoter Khan invited Joshua to his boxing show in Ghana, where the pair were pictured firmly back on track.

Khan promoted a show in Ghana, which World Boxing News previously covered. The former world champion hopes the show will serve as a launchpad for future promotions worldwide.

Televised on DAZN, Andrew Tabiti defeated Jacob Dickson in the headliner.

Khan Promotions said, “Thank you. What a night!

“A sold out arena, fighters who left it all in the ring. A nation that showed up with pride and passion. Together, we brought world title fights to the nation.

“We’ll continue to do it again and again. Ghana, thank you. This is only the beginning.”
